This multi-tenant
building has served as one of the mainstays for commercial office space in downtown Byron for many years. By most locals
it is known as the Landis Professional Building. Over the last 50 years, the location has been added onto and remodeled several
times. Many businesses have called the Landis Building home over time including Attorneys, Insurance Agents, CPA's, Optometrist,Beauticians,
Massage Therapists, and Realty Firms. It is the largest multi-tenant office building in downtown Byron.
Grant Landis and
business partners, Leon Seebruck, and Joe Speizer, became involved with the location in 1980 remodeling the original structure.
Mr. Landis later became sole owner of the property, and operated Landis Realty from the building. Dickerson Nieman
purchased the Realty business from Mr. Landis in 2003. In 2004, J&W Properties Co. purchased the commercial building from
Mr. Landis.
The current tenants include a satellite branch of one of the largest realty firms in Northern Illinois,
Dickerson Nieman Realtors, along with Byron Insurance Agency, CPA Jeanette Heesaker, and Attorney Maria Berger. J&W Properties
Co. will also be locating a leasing office within the building in the near future as well as making continued improvements
to this Byron landmark.
